INSTRUCTION FOR TAKING FECES SAMPLES

Two methods are possible. 1. Take from each animal a handful of rectal manure out of the animal. OR collect some material from just fallen, still warm and not stepped on manure, without urine.

HOW MANY SAMPLES? There are several sampling strategies. It is expensive and most of the time not needed to investigate separate every animal. Most of the time manure from several individual animals is mixed to one or more samples. Only when the health of an individual animal is much worse than the average health, then a separate sample of one animal can be sent for analysis.

The manure taken from for instance 10-15 animals can be mixed into one sample that will be analysed. The group of animals form which the manure is mixed together has to be a group with about the same health, production, growth, age and the same feed / amount of feed.

A mix-sample: mix the manure thoroughly and pack about 150-200 gram in a plastic sack with your company name, place and identification number or name. Send the sample as direct by mail in a good paper or plastic envelope to:
